It Started in a Rainy Field in Sichuan
Partner:宇蕭益農公司
Location:Chengdu, Sichuan, China
Crop: Chinese Stem Mustard

Before the Global Expansion
This story began before COVID, when Rolling Greens was still in the early stages of building its business beyond Taiwan.
China was one of the first overseas markets the team set out to explore. Through a connection with 宇蕭益農公司 in Chengdu, Sichuan, Rolling Greens had the opportunity to work directly with local growers and put its microbial technology to the test under real farming conditions.
There were no large international programs behind it at the time. It was simply a young company, a local partner, a group of growers—and a field where the results would have to speak for themselves.
A Harvest in the Rain
By October 2018, the first trial was ready for harvest.
One of Rolling Greens' R&D specialists stood alone in the field under a steady drizzle, moving from plant to plant, recording observations and examining the roots beneath the soil.
For our team, that scene became one of the lasting memories of Rolling Greens' early years.
Working along with 宇蕭益農, they compared what they saw in the field after RichFarm Booster had been applied into the growing program. The treated field showed fuller growth, stronger root development, and better overall plant vigor. Local growers noticed the difference as well.
RichFarm Booster is built around Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and Bacillus velezensis, two microbial strains used to support the soil and the environment around plant roots.
But for Rolling Greens, this trial meant more than seeing promising plants at harvest.
It was one of the first times the team had taken its technology outside Taiwan and watched it perform in a completely different field, climate, and farming environment.

One Field Led to Another Opportunity
In 2019, with support from 宇蕭益農, we were invited at the Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture, where the team introduced its work in microbial agriculture to local officials and large-scale growers. This event is one of our key international activities that year.
The team also visited a research center founded by 袁隆平, widely known for his work in hybrid rice, discussing the possibility of future trials.
At the time, it felt as though that rainy field had become the beginning of something much larger.
Then the Plans Changed
Agriculture, however, rarely follows a straight line—and neither does international business.
Severe rainfall and flooding later affected Sichuan. Not long afterward, COVID-19 disrupted travel, field work, and cross-border collaboration. Several projects that had been taking shape were put on hold.
Some of those plans never developed in the way the team had originally imagined.
But the experience was not lost.
The trial of Chinese Stem mustard became part of Rolling Greens' earliest international field experience: learning how to work with local partners, adapt to unfamiliar growing conditions, and understand agricultural challenges from the ground up.

What Began in Sichuan Didn't End There
Today, Rolling Greens works across multiple international markets, but the company's global story did not begin in a conference room or at a trade show.
It began in places like that field in Sichuan—with muddy boots, wet soil, exposed roots, and people standing together to see what the crop had to say.
Not every field trial becomes a long-term project.
Not every plan survives in the weather, the market, or events no one can predict.
But some experiences shape everything that comes after them.
For Rolling Greens, Sichuan was one of those experiences.
